There are two ways to add students to projects:
- Add Students Manually: assign students to projects directly.
- Project Bidding: students rank their top project choices allowing faculty and administrators to review those preferences and then make final project assignments.
You can access this feature from the Accepted and Active project lists or TeamBuilder.
Select which projects students will bid on
Click Open Bidding to get started. The first step is to select the projects you wish to share with your students for them to rank. You can select individual projects, filter by a given category or click Select All. You can build a list of projects from multiple stages (proposed, accepted or active) and you can mix and match from each stage.
Select which students to include
The next step is to pick which students to include in your bid. If student groups are enabled for your workspace, there will be a selector at the top (not pictured in the screenshot below). By default, all active students will be selected. You can deselect the All option or individual deselect the students you wish to exclude.
Configuring your bid and opening bidding
You can optionall name the bid (useful if you do multiple rounds of bidding) and can sent a close date after which students will be unable to respond. You may want to set this one or two days after students are told to turn in their preferences so that any last-minute bids can be collected.
Bids can be sent immediately, or you can set a scheduled date and time. Bids can be set to have students rank or score their project preferences. Ranking vs scoring is explained here. You can also add your own custom message for students to see.
Opening bidding send an email notification to all students included in your bid. That email has a link for the student to respond, no login required!
- By default, the Project Description is hidden to students when bidding but this can be enabled so they can view it
- You can add custom fields to your bidding form so that students are answering questions beyond just ranking the projects
